Update 0.4.1


This update features a new turret, a new enemy type, new upgrades, and several much-needed performance optimizations.

  • UI
    • Added an update indicator to the main menu to let players know when a new version of the game is available.
  • Enemies
    • Added new Pillbug enemy 
      • Slow, but rolls up to gain speed at the cost of turning ability when in range. Keep your distance!
    • Added a new starting wave of just small bugs
      • Infinite danger level scaling now starts on danger level 10.
  • Parts
    • Added Rainmaker v1 turret  
      • Fires a barrage of unguided missiles that explode. High power in exchange for the danger of friendly fire.
      • A matching chassis is still in the works
  • Performance
    • Greatly improved performance across the board.
    • Fixed an issue resulting in worse performance on repeat runs.
    • Fixed an issue resulting in worse late-game performance.
  • Upgrades
    • Added “Tag” functionality
      • Upgrades now have tags relating to what they do, some upgrades will only appear in the level-up pool if the player already has upgrades with the required tags.
    • Improved descriptions
      • Descriptions can now have color-coded numbers and other markup to help quickly parse them at a glance.
    • Added new upgrades
      •  Redirected Luck (Req. Tags: Crit, Bounce)
        • Increase projectile crit chance for every enemy the projectile has already hit.
      •   Meteoric Deployment (Req. Tags: Infantry, Explosion)
        • Causes infantry to spawn in an explosion near the player.
        • It can only be taken once during a run.
      •   Explosive Exit (Req. Tags: Boost, Explosion)
        • Spawn landmines when boosting; multiple copies increase the spawn rate.
      •  Cryo Coating
        • Chance to freeze enemies on projectile hit, enemies shatter when at low health.
    • Upgrade adjustments
      • Volatile Enemies
        • Now has Debuff as a required tag.
      • Reactive Armor
        • Increased base explosion size.

The run history menu is still on the docket along with continued performance optimizations, more parts, more enemies (bosses are high on the list), and loads more upgrades now that the tag system is finally in!
